anything to detect in quartzsite

hmmmm guess nothing

sorry frank, i did not see the post.
yes, is the answer...
many little arroyo around the north east of town...hard rock mining country.

also...north along the river both sides...gemstones are reported to be found in the gravels...haven't checked that one out myself yet.
the old ferry across the river is closer to quartzsite than yuma...many lost treasure tales of the area.

aa battery,

Lots of places to detect around the Quartzsite area, but the east side of the Colorado river from about I-10 to Parker is not one of them.
Almost all of that is on the Indian Res., don't get caught on there with your detector.

Its not near all hard rock country. Lots and lots of placer ground around the area.

To name a few: Trigo placers [mostly on the Military Res.]--La Paz area--La Cholla area--Oro Fino placer area--Plomosa placers--Middle Camp placers and many other small areas with no names, if you know where to go.

Remember a lot of these are tied up tighter than Dicks hat band ie. [under claim] and some of these guys can get a bit on the grumpy side if they catch you on their claim detecting.

The KOFA area south of town has a couple of large hardrock as well as placer mines and whats left of the old town, but that area is off limits as its on the game range. Nice area to drive through and visit. Very rough.

Maby this will help a bit.

going with my cousin and someone he knows has property there. As far as i know there is a Army base on it but dont know. :icon_scratch:

patton trained troops on both sides of the colorado river...most of the sites are on the west side, but...there are sites on the arizona side...he might have a camp.

pippinwhitepaws,

Yes, lots of the old Patton training camps around here.

If you go to the east of Hwy. 95 and north of I-10 you can still see traces of a lot of the old camps.

Sorry to be late, didn't see it 'til today
Stop in at Gold Miser shop on 95 in town. You can get a membership in the local club for $15 yr., the guys at the RV park were something everyday on the clubs claims with Goldbugs and drywashers.
