My guess is antique Victorian Egyptian motif tie bar.

I was thinking Egyptian too, maybe Isis the winged goddess?
Is it a clasp of some sort? Is that a thumb release lever? Look forward to seeing other angles of it.

I see the horns of HATHOR,,, The SUN DISK but I cannot make out the profile. It does NOT seem to be an Egyptian profile.
I would tend to think this is a mid 1800s "Egyptian motif" piece of jewelry from the "Egyptian craze" that was so prevalent during the day.

The Egyptian craz was during the time that King Tut's tumb was found. Here's a closer look and a image of Chief Pontiac for comparison...

The way it's hinged, it reminds me of a book marker.
Never seen one quite like that before, and I could be wrong. It's pretty cool, though!
Could be a hair barrett, something like that?

I'm with Ant. 1920's - 30's man's tie clip with King Tut motif.

After the Tut tomb was discovered and opened in 1922 everybody went apey about all things Egyptian for a while.

When I was a kid my grandparents gave me a bookmark that was made just like that other than the pendant portion. It was from some vacation place they had gone, I think it was Niagra Falls, anywho good luck

Ok everyone. I'm guessing it might be a bookmark. I managed to straighten and clean the dirt off. The piece when expanded comes together nicely. The part broken off is the end of the two prongs. Here are some new pics
