I have the regular TDI and I must say that it is a relic magnet. All buttons and brass give a high tone. Bullets are a lower tone and will take some time to learn the signals. I have dug bullets 18" deep with good tones. If I were to make a decision on which model I would highly recommend the regular TDI. Several people have told me that they have used the PRO and SL and they have said the plain TDI is deeper. Since getting my TDI my brass finds have skyrocketed. Recently I have been using the Garrett ATX as well and I must say that I am extremely happy with the results it produces. One of features that I like about the ATX is that the bullets and buttons and brass all have the same tone. It is just as deep as the TDI if not deeper. I hunt the Diggin in Virginia hunts every spring and fall and both machines are excellent choices in that hot soil. I live in east Tennessee and I have one site that is much hotter than Virginia due to old red bricks from an old 1850's college. VLF machines will not work at all on this hot soil. I buried a button 3" deep and every VLF machine that me and my hunting partners have could not hear it. Now the TDI and the ATX worked perfect and gets great depth. Again I would highly recommend either machine for relic hunting in hot soil.

How much worse is the ATX to swing because of its weight?
