I wonder if the US Postal Service issued these to their carriers who had routes in areas that took them over frozen lakes? Just a thought.

Definitely ice skates!!! I say turn of the century or 1900-1920 is my guess, without looking on-line.Great! find

Those are so cool....almost reminds me of my first pair of roller skates!!! ;D

Seriously though, here's a link for a book on ice skates...maybe you check and see if a book store or library near you carries this book, or contact the writer and send him a copy of your photo....they may be able to identify yours.

For the book: http://www.mjdtools.com/books/137965.htm

Contact these folks, they may be able to help too: http://www.skates.com/

This link almost looks like yours, except you have US on yours: http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-Metal-I...ington-CT_W0QQitemZ300023497619QQcmdZViewItem

Better yet, contact this person FIRST.....he's got a real nice collection. You need to click on the arrows to see the pics: http://www.skatingaheadofthecurve.com/AntiqueIceSkates.html

Great find....
