The other forum is pretty dead and I know most coin enthusiasts are in here a good majority of the time.... so sue me :dontknow:

I just picked this up at a estate auction online and pick it up tomorrow.

I paid $11 - Can you see anything in here worth keeping just by looking?

Middle Picture, bottom center looks to be a liberty and the baggy looks to contain at least two 1 toz silver bars.

IMO

I dont see anything of much value... what's in the baggie bottom left? could be of possible value.

Anyway, for $11, I think you got a good deal, I would've bid on that for $11

A couple of these look too bright to be brass or copper... any idea what they might be (upper right) :hello2:
They are alloys, copper, aluminum, zinc, tin etc. all mixed together.

A good way to initially check things out is to go by date. Most European countries reduced the fineness of their silver around the WWI era, and most got rid of all silver content in the WWII era. Most of the Americas kept minting silver coins until the 1960s when the price of silver made it hard to do. The exact date varies between countries. Countries like Mexico even struck some coins intended for circulation in the '90s that still contained silver. I don't think you got ripped off for buying that for $11 (I certainly would have bought it for that much) I don't see any $300 coins in there though.

Awesome! That will be a lot of fun to look through. Let us know what you find!

I agree, looks like great fun! In the second photo on the left I see a ring of stars... V nickel? And in the bottom one there's a King George VI... Canadian silver dime? I also see a 2x2. This is like Where's Waldo. (To other posters, I think he hasn't received the coins yet and that's why he's just going by the photos.)

same pic, about 3 inches to the left is another one of those little bars....

also first pic very top left looks like it may be a walking liberty half? hard to tell

Looks like a couple Canadian Toonies (2 dollar coins) in there, (silvery outer ring with brass inserts)......NGE

Go to here- http://worldcoingallery.com/ With some patience (and perhaps a google or three) you can check where they are from, what they may be worth, and if they contain any silver. Good luck.

If that doesn't help go to http://en.numista.com/ it has everything worldcoingallery has but lets you type in foreign letters and characters from more languages to help you identify the country of origin, value, and composition. Sometimes can take a while to find the correct foreign letters, like doing a word search puzzle in chinese or arabic or something.
