Thank you very much, that ties in with some of the other finds on the field .An early copper die stamped flat button. My guess would be the etched ring came from the die, the rest was hand etched, as you say. My money is on early to middle/late 1700's. Nice find! It's unlikely you will find another of these anywhere. It probably only had 2 or three sisters.
