The signature doesn't strike me as Japanese in any way, the font looks to be all wrong
I would search for other Asian country signature fonts

If my brother were around I'd get him to try to read it. From what I understand there are at least 2 types of script the Japanese use. There is Kan Ji (pronounced khan gee) and then there is an everyday script with the squiggly lines as you see in the autograph, so I wouldn't completely rule out Japanese. Am interested in this thread so don't give up. :icon_thumleft:

I'll try to help you out, creeper. Very diverse part of the country up here, and my grandson has a couple of friends, one Yuya Kawanishi, from Japan, and Lee, from mainland China. They're over here all the time so I'll have them take a look at it. Give me a couple of days, cause kids come and go.

Well finally creeper, but you know how kids are. Jian Yuan Lee, my grandson's school friend from Beijing, China, says it's Chinese, and a personal name; probably the artist's name. The first symbol is 'Zhang' but he doesn't recognize the rest. He told me to have Yuya Kawanisha, a Japanese exchange student look at it too, which I will. I have tried to help, but be forewarned; these kids are devious and not above having some fun at the expense of us old f*rts. Lee looks blankly at me when I ask him about Bruce Lee. Yuya fell on the floor laughing when I asked if his family had any pics of Godzilla or maybe even Mothra that I could post. Kiddin about some of that, they're good boys. And I do have access to a lot of folks that can read other languages, so any body needs help let me know.

Yuya looked at this. He believes the scenery is Japanese, but has trouble with the writing. He believes it to be Japanese, unlike Lee, and the first symbol is for waterfall.
