Goldsboro is along the Susquehanna River in York County right next to the Three Mile Island nuclear plant. There is one major stream that runs through it, Fishing Creek I believe. I don't know if gold has ever been found there, although gold dust can be found in various areas throughout York County. If you are interested in how the town got its name, I can check my York County History book for you.
I know Wikipedia isn't the best source but here's what it said:
Etters is the name of the post office in Goldsboro, even though there is no incorporated place known as "Etters". The USPS even says that the name Goldsboro is not acceptable for sending mail, and to use Etters (ZIP 17319).
Goldsboro was named in honor of J.M. Goldsborough, the civil engineer who was involved with making the railway through the town of "Martinsville" as it was called prior to 1850. The town consisted of three or four houses, the old "Red Mill", and a small store.
Etters is a town one mile north of Goldsboro. A post office was established in Etters in 1838 at the site of Henry Etter's tavern. When the railroad was built, the post office was moved to Goldsboro, but it still retained the name of Etters.
