......Anyone mind sharing their basic programming for the Explorer XS??....

I use the Explorer II, but I believe it is basically the same machine. This set up works well for me:

Gain 10
threshold (bairly audible)
Senisitivity 23(manual)
Iron Mask -11
Conductive
deep

There it is except you might have to back off the sens. and IM a little if you find it's too chirpy. (but with experience you want to go the other way with those settings)
 

Joe start from throwing coil stand through the any wall that you will see! to never see this strange invention again!!! take off coil cover is 69g! you will never make hole in 1050 without it!use original 1050 coil! switch to all metal with some little discrimination like 11 -10 for start and use sensitivity,to much garbage under coil lower sensitivity! sometimes even till 10. starting learning explorer with lower sensitivity much more easy! because you can hear much more clear and simple signals in the iron or in between other stuff. good luck Stasys
 

hi joe. get yourself a copy of andy sabbisch's book "mastering the explorer xs" it will explain all settings, controls etc. you can probably pick one up on the willing to buy forum. they usually sell from $7-$12 . good luck with the xs,it's an awesome machine.....hh.....jb
