007.JPG009.JPG010.JPGThere are no markings that I can see.It has brass mounts and guard, and the guard is diamond shaped and it has a leather handle. Not sure if that is its original sheath, but it fits is well?Looks kind of old,but I have no idea?

This is a great old piece...
DO NOT CLEAN IT.
This is a hunting knife / skin knife.
True Americana...
If you do not mind me asking... where did you get it ?
The sheath is made using sinew...
This is actually an American Indian trait.

Hint of being a Sami knife. Possible Norwegian/skandic type influence but likely a locally crafted knife.
Theater knifes were a not overly rare occurrence as gifts for those heading to war, but not well identified with some makers. The construction inspired knife making perhaps but knives have long been an important item. Crafted when not affordable or accessible elsewhere.

PS... try to find out some info on preserving this...
do some searches on cleaning old knife blades and oiling etc for storage.
As to preserve it.
Mink oil will work on sheath. but before you use it check it out.
