Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could identify this item. It came from my family, best as can be told a early back as teh late 40's or so (maybe even earlier). My late grandfather had it and according to my mother, she remembers it from her childhood days as well. We have been trying to identify it. We have thought it had something to do with the Rotory Club, but after conversing with them, this is not the case.

If anyone knows anything, please email or post. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. It has been frustrating to figure what this is. My Mother has been for quite a while, unfortunately she didn't find it till the death of my Grandmother, and with no more grandparents and grand-aunts/uncles left, no one can say what it was for.

We presume it is an award for something, blacksmithing, metalworking or something, but there is no identifying marks or inscriptions on the thing. So finally after search the web, I found this place and had the thing photoed and put up my request.

My Mother is trying to find more information (especially what my relatives back then did for a living), so if she finds any more information, I'll pass it on here. Only thing I know, she said she remembers it from childhood which goes back to the mid - late 1940's, and may be a local item (Toledo, Ohio). But so far no luck.

Thanks for any help.

Well here's what I found out so far (my Mom is currently trying to find more information from living relatives)

Relatives working for during 30's-40's-50's: Libbey Owens Ford Glass Co., Granary (no longer around), Welfare Dept., Sun Oil as sales rep., Soda Pop/Ice Dispensor person. That's what my Mom could remember.

As for worker's union, it is possible as far as she can remember the glass co. was unioned so it could be an award for some reason.

Also though, my grandfather travelled alot before he was married, thus my Mom may think (though not likely) a souvenir from the St. Lewis Fair back in the '30s.

The item is made of white metal (as my mom put it) that is painted. It is not solid.

Once I get more info, I'll pass it on.

Thanks for replies and help.

More information added:

My Mom found out that it may be related to Teamsters from the late 1930's to early 1940's. She thinks it may be something of an award or symbol that my Grandfather received from the time he was working at the granary (which was under Teamster Unions). My Mother is currently trying to contact various members of family and the local Teamsters for more information.

If anyone know what it is, it would be appreciated.

Thanks.
