Anyone know what this is

Thatā€™s a funky-looking thing. The signature looks to be ā€˜Bjelā€™ and I think this is one of Diana Bjelā€™s artistic fantasy pieces:

She graduated from Cleveland Institute of Art, majoring in ceramics, and now works as one of the artists from ā€œThe Screw Factory Artist Studiosā€ within the Lake Erie Building at Lakewood, Ohio.

I donā€™t know what the re-sale value of her work might be but, as you will see from her website, her pieces arenā€™t cheap.

Today, that studio may be closed due to COVID-19.
You may wish to contact the studio by phone: (216) 521-0088.
In turn, they may give you current information regarding your artist.
Don.....

The Screw Factory Artist Studios actual website doesn't give me any of that and shows a list of artists working there, including Diana Bjel. Diana's own site that I linked to above takes me straight to a gallery of her pieces currently up for sale or recently sold.

Here's another of her quirky pieces titled "Generous Hands II" that's more similar in style, from another website and currently priced at $1,100. No indication of how large it is though, but it's on a wire armature so I expect it's a large statement piece.

Always amazed at your thoroughness and accuracy, Red Coat. Above and beyond, as usual. Nice I.D.

Thanks Kray, although we don't yet know for sure the ID is correct. Hopefully Diana will confirm that it is her work, or know of another 'Bjel' who produced pieces like this. She might be following in her father's footsteps or something like that.
