I found this at a school where wheat pennies have been found, not sure the age of the school. Looks like something that would be cigar related, I don't know why, it just does....lol It can't be a ring because the ends are rounded and you can tell it did'nt break. Appears to be made of aluminum but it does not bend easily.

That is an Indian Chewing Gum ring, circa 1940, made by the Goudey Gum Company. Originally had a silver luster finish and adjustable bands. .. Not really a gumball machine ring, but rather a package promotion for their gum.

The Goudey looks similar, but doesn't have the indents on the sides like the OP's. The indents were for fake "jewels," usually red.
I remember getting indian head rings from 10 cent gumball machines in little plastic "capsules" back in the 60's. I saw them in gumball machines for a quarter in the 70's, but by then, I already had all I wanted. :D

I wish you were right creskol, that would be sweet. I think au24k is prob. right though, I did not see indents on the sides of the Goudy ring. Thanx guys for your help. Green check on the way. I did search for old indian head gumball rings but could not find anything that matches....oh well.

I was going to say it looked like an ornament off of a toy sixgun holster or belt. I remember seeing things like that when i was a kid.
