All of these were plucked from a dirt wall of a wash near volcanic outcrops. Some look almost like Garnet but others kind of looked like Obsidian or Slag. We broke the larger one open with the rock hammer and there are all these silvery pieces inside. Then the silvery parts turned to a goldish color. ??

We may take them all in to a geologist but wanted to see if anyone could help me out.

Welcome to the forum. I dont know what you have but those are some nice pictures , what camera are you using?

We went to see a geologist today who confirmed that we have several Garnets and rare at that. The metallic rocks are Pyrite which was also great to learn. We now have some great information when out rock hounding to identify specific rocks, minerals, crystals etc.
