Wmr1 - Unlikely you will find a match to this one. People with money back then showed their wealth by having things that others didn't or couldn't get (custom made).

It does appear to be a bridle rosette and a really nice one. What else have you found?

Personally, i'm gonna go against the grain here and say it's an old broach with the pin mechanism and catch degraded off of it. Looks like traces of one or the other still remain on the back on one side. Just my opinion as a jewelery buff.

It would seem a bit odd to have a lead/solder filled brooch.

I'd also say rosette,similar to this one with the back attachment in place.
