Anyone know what this engraving is?

Found this silver (plated?) spoon. the engraving on the front is a letter 'G' encircling the letter 'E' the back of the spoon has a marking 'Z ech 90 or 9D hard to make out. any help with what this is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all for your help again.... Cheers! photo.JPGspoon1.jpg

I'll try. I'll have to download the magnifying glass app for the iphone and then take a pic. It is VEEERRRY tiny engraving. I'll keep you posted. Probably get it by Monday night.

As previously mentioned, the engraved lettering is personalized monogramming, it was a common practice back in the day. Sometimes family crests were even used, especially if owned by a prominent family. By the sound of the marks you described, it is probably Russian silver. Looking forward to the pic of the mark. Hope this helps.
