Is there any way we can get a pic of how far out the screw protrudes?
Because it really looks like it had to attatch to something round.
Because of the ornate side it must be the front and because of the screw side it had to attatch to something.

That appears to be the entry pipe for the ramrod on a muzzle loading double barrel shotgun.

Screw is on the wrong side for a rifle. But, if it allows enough clearance I guess it could well be one for a shotgun. Good ID.
