I picked these up for .25cents for the pair at a sale. I think they are lamp parts or candle holder parts or something like that. I do not know what they are called though. They each have four slits on one side like something would fit snug inside (glass chimney??). The only marking is "sterling" on them. Thanks in advance for any info.

that is what they look like, but I think silver conducts heat very quickly so I am not sure that is what they are....

Any wax residue? Can't tell size - are they the right size for tea light inserts or other candles? Wouldn't put off much heat. Just a thought.

Looks like bases for salt and pepper shakers, they would have been made out of glass ,just a guess

Thanks for the ideas! The opening with the slits is 1.75 inches. The base is 2". They are 1.75" tall. I'm thinking tea lights would fit in them...

Are there two slots one on each side? I have seen sterling silver card holders before.

Hey Turtle, there are 4 slots evenly spaced. I'm pretty sure they aren't card holders or napkin rings...... Definitely bases to hold something...maybe like mentioned already, S&P shakers--they would be large shakers though. ??

That's what I was thinking DD (in my original post). To hold smaller lamp/chimney. I don't know what the part would be called though....is there even a name for them? LOL!

How about paper cup holders :dontknow:

When I was a kid the local soda shoppe had metal holders for those cone-shaped paper ice cream cups

far as I know the middle peice is all one peice an silver conduct heat very quickly so I doubt a lamp with fire would be a good choice of metal for the part

Looks like a set of rims for a hat wheel??? :laughing9:

Looks like egg cup holders

That's what I was thinking. My Limey British grandad used to eat soft-boiled eggs out of something similar.

I found one of these at a flea market yesterday. It had a glass cup that sat inside of it, presumably for a candle. The one I found was NOT marked at all so I passed on it.
