this ring was found almost 40 years ago in a remodeling project...that is about all i know about the origin of the ring. It is made of a very soft silver and has an amethyst stone in it. the only clue I have to put some sort of date on the ring is a jewelers mark and possibly a pictoral. i have some close up pictures of these markings...the pictoral appears to have a man standing over a cliff with a baby but its very hard to decipher.

It looks to me to be Galic or Celtic in origin, especially the design on the side of the ring itself,

granted thats just my 2cents

The top one (two characters) is the kanji (Chinese/Japanese) for silver. I can't tell what the other one is...

The word in Japanese is "GIN" (pronounced GEEN - like GREEN without the R)
