I found this cool token yesterday in an old area of San Diego. I can't seem to find anything online about Alfred S Herring Cigars and Tobacco, either here in S.D, or, anywhere with that name and some association with tobacco. Maybe one of you experts can help? Another thing interesting about it, is that someone counterstamped it 14K! Oh, I forgot the ruler.....its 25mm in diameter. Thanks.

Nice token ! But apparently he didn't believe in Newspaper Advertising.
I searched across the US, In all the papers I had access to
& Could not find one Herring advertising Cigars or Tobacco.

I did find plenty of Businesses Advertising Selling Tobacco, Herring & Cigars

& Nationwide, and only 1 Alfred S. Herring. from Iowa
he was Applying for a Life Sentence, in 1907, in California (could be Him)

Los Angeles herald. [microfilm reel] (Los Angeles [Calif.]), 24 Dec. 1907.

Thanks, I finally found that listing. I didn't put in the period after the S initially, so, it didn't come up when I checked tokencatalog yesterday. I wonder who put that info in there, and if they found one also. You would think that if Alfred had a store, that it would have had a telephone and hence a phone book listing. Maybe he used a different name for the business and had HIS name on the token. Who knows? An address would have been nice, but, that probably cost extra when making the token.
