Anyone know about marbles

I see there are some clay ones mixed in. They're probably pretty old, then. I think the marble glass cutter was first patented about 1902, but I could be wrong. Glass marbles did exist before that, though.

I put a pick of just the clay ones........it looks like some of the glass ones were blown

Kids books Pirates lore always had tales of Pirates hiding gemstones in Clay balls. I squashed every clay marble I found! Alas No Diamonds

Not to hijack the thread ,but i know a story about some Indian marbals , a guy traded for about a half a sack full one time years ago. he then carried them home ,pored them in a big wash tub of water to clean them and they dissolved ,found out real quick they were goat poop. :laughing7:

For some reason I'm not sure I even knew there was a marble section here.... I've got a can of really neat ones that I pulled out of an estate dumpster I need to post there. I know pretty much zero about marbles other than I find them every time I dig.
