Anybody out there want the company of a greenhorn this weekend? Would love to get out, just still not sure where. 50-60 mile radius of east county would be ideal.

I mine 57 miles from home in LA. The San Gabriel East Fork River is a recreational mining area in the National forest.
It's better known as the Sheep Mountain Wilderness area.
There is about 30 miles of river canyon to prospect for gold, and it is always open and no one can file a claim.
It's in the book.
