Anyone have any luck at lewes after the storm?

I've often wanted to hit that area after a good nor'easter. Now that I'm retired, I can't wait for the next good storm. Hopefully i can find a few of those coins from the ship wrecks that may have washed up to the shore... 8) 8) 8)

I was at Cape Henlopen today. I only found a bunch of clad coins including a Canadian quarter. There were rusty nails everywhere.

Found this on the beach in Lewes. Anyone have an idea what it is? The photos are not the best but it extremely worn about 16mm diam. less than .5 mm thick. Lion facing on one side and right facing bust on the other. I can make out letters REX on bust side. on lion side is PFENNING. Any help would be appreciated.

That is a Jetton and that is mid 1700s Nice find. When did you find that? Any Questions on that u can email me at [email protected] Oh and yes that is a token

THunter is correct. This is a jeton, a type of token. There is a wikipedia piece on it. I found one there which I consider one of my favorite finds. A guy in the First State club hammered the ever living pee out of it in the very beginning, before it was closed off, and found many good finds. I went with the club pres soon after the site was opened back up. First trip I found a jeton of George II. It was in perfect shape, it was as thin as a piece of paper and read about 4-5 on the XLT, foil area in other words. A guy had warned me of just this type of find right before I found it.

We hit it maybe 6-7 other times, including once during a gale which was cool. I have never found fewer metal items per time invested, but what I did find was very cool. I eyeballed a wooden domino which was way cool.

The site starts right at the parking area just beyond the Yacht Club. Minimal chances of metal targets except after storms, but pottery should still be available off and on. The local museum in Lewes requests that you show them what you find for recording; they told me for example mine was the 2nd domino reported.

I was lucky enough to find a few artifacts from that wreck in Lewes .

Last weekend some friends from our club SPHRG and Staten Island History Hunters went to Lewes and found seven Jetons. My ETrac was showing them at 12-4. One guy was there before and found one of those fake watches.
