It looks like an extremely interesting artifact. What do you think it is Rob ?
I see numerous features.
Any chance of pics from front and rear.

Hello,
I have no idea what it is,I can see what appears to be a knight in my opinion anyway you can see something is covering the mouth like a shield but beyond that I am hoping one of you can lead me the right direction.I will post more pics tomorrow. Thanks

The hole doesnt go through the bottom it is only dilled in the top. Thanks

one side of the piece looks like a carved piece of pipestone...then the lighter side appears to have cast marks.
i have no clue...i was up half the night searching chess pieces.

it looks to be fired clay. the motif, woman with face covered, or as some one else suggested Knight, says it is not Indian, Posibly a trade item like the clay pipes???

LOL best idea I can come up with is a pencil holder...

This may sound crazy but the first Pic looks like a character from the Popeye cartoons called Jeep Jeep (Sp?). From my recollection the character was based on an Am Indian idol. I too would like to see better pics. It looks like a gaming piece that would stand on it's base like a chess piece. Thanks for sharing it .

Interesting!

If it's made out of metal (lead?). . . maybe a casket ornament?

It looks Mayan sort of frogish.

If that hole could hold a stick of incense maybe it could be a holder for that purpose. Sure does look very, very old.

Fascinating :)
I hope TNet has an expert on ancient American artifacts, to look at it.
