Dug these and don't know exactly what they are? The iron U shaped one appears to be blacksmith made. The tag is either pot metal or some lead mixture. Says CENDORFF K. C. MO. IMG_1101.JPG
 

Regarding the tag: maybe from the Parlin Orendorff Co., Kansas City Missouri.?

The iron u-shape is a bracket designed to hold a box or box-shaped object. The ends of the u were to hole the box upright.

The old timers always told me that they thought those were staples off old wagons. I have no idea if that is anywhere near correct.

Here is a variety of iron staples (used on wagons and also saw use in construction). These probably date from around the 1750's - 60's. Yours appears to have pretty substantially turned ends, but I suppose that they could have been hammered that way after being applied to whatever they were pounded into.staples.jpg
