Hello All,
I picked up a used Fisher Gold Bug detector that was damaged but repairable for pretty cheap. I had the idea of using it on the dry/wet sand of Texas beaches as a "keep in the truck detector" that wouldn't be a massive loss if it got stolen.
It is one of the old first model Fisher Gold Bugs running at 19 khz to specifically be sensitive to small gold. It is also supposed to work well in highly mineralized soil.
Any idea how it would react in saltwater conditions? Anyone ever use a gold machine on the beach. I haven't been able to find out much on the subject. And yes, I realize the machine isn't waterproof or even splashproof so I'll be hunting out of the splash zone. I just saw this as an opportunity to get a machine that "might" perform much better than one of my VLF machines in beach conditions that was also inexpensive.
Any experiences out there?
