Formerly New Orleans.. Now Pueblo Co
Detector(s) used
several, mostly Garrett
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I know it's a long shot, but I'm trying to help a friend who works as a local archeologist with whatever info I can find. I'm assuming it's post 1920's with the threaded top, but I don't remember ever seeing one like it. I've asked her to let me know if anything is embossed on the bottom, and I'll add to the post when she gets back to me. I'll post in the bottle forum as well.... Thanks for any help or ideas.

I can't tell how big the shards are so the size of the whole bottle is unknown.
Also I'm not sure if the lip is finished or ground down.
I can't see any seam lines to judge age by either.

So,
My best guesses are,
The figure is King Neptune ( beard and trident) and if the top lip is ground than it should date around 1890-1910.
If the lip is finished and there is a seam line than 1910 on.
Markings on the base may help greatly on dating and manufacture.

looks like a simple one turn Twist off like a Heinz Bottle top would have.

That is the Only thing that makes me Think not Perfume
but maybe relish

I haven't seen the pieces in person, just this pic she sent, she thinks it may have been around half pint size. I've messaged her and asked for more info and I'll post it here. I'm thinking perfume too, just hoping that maybe someone will have seen it before and have a name to go with it, I know it's not likely, but keeping her happy lets me get some good reccomendations for spots to hunt now and then

I was gonna say perfume until I noticed the face. We need something in the photo for size comparison and a good pic of the bottom will help date it.

I hadn't noticed the trident that HuntinDog mentioned (good eye!), and Neptune/Poseidon is a good guess. But The face looks a bit sinister, so it may also be the devil, as I think the bottom may have his pointed tail showing... maybe.

Yes it is exactly a depiction of Neptune on that bottle with the trident and tail. That is an excellent start on identifying this bottle!

I have seen that face before. I think I have seen it relating to magic tricks or on one of those fortune teller machines

OK now I see the trident. Get the picture of the manufacturers marks on the bottom and we should be able to google it.

One thought I had was Neptune Motor Oil in a glass bottle, but the trident is a different shape - has straight spear "prongs"?. :)

Maybe olive oil?
