Every time I go the the local sporting good stores I see the pay dirt, 1lb bag for 10 bucks. Tonight I dropped 20 bucks for a white elephant gift but I can't seem to get myself to spend 10 bucks on a bag a gold rush pay dirt. Maybe if they said it came from Tony beets claim or even parkers I might but just the thought of Hoffman dirt makes me think I'm wasting my 10 bucks lol

Never bought pay dirt, never will. Playing with pay dirt seems about the same as using someone else's second-hand condom. If it ain't mine, I don't want it.

I got one of the small things that was at the counter at big five. Promised a nugget every twenty five packs. I had to.

Like two small specks.

If your gonna buy paydirt go to Amazon and read reviews.

Yeh see I have the same view which is why I have a hard time buying dirt haha

That's where I was at was big 5 too

I've been through a number of bags of commercial pay dirt.

In each, I always found color.

But color value never exceeding the cost of the bags...

There's a whole lot to be read into that statement, but by experience doing that really intensified my panning techniques.

I bought 2 bags from Lynch mining. One black label and one unsearched from their Belmont claim.
It was fun but i dont look at the vials of gold from purchased pay dirt like I do at the gold I found.
Kinda felt like buying a hooker.
Now for guys just getting into prospecting, especially if you have absolutely no access, I understand. Not that my opinion matters. But if you have the remotest possibility, go out and get your own.
It's incredible.

I'd buy Hoffman's pay dirt all day looong. Cause he dosen't know what gold looks like LOL:)

I've bought that Gold Rush paydirt when it was marked down at Cabela's. It's nothing but salted high mica playground sand. 3 little flakes per vial, and something like 9 per bag. No challenge to get the real gold out, but if you don't know gold, you'll tear your hair trying to catch all the little gold flakes. Never got lucky enough to get the $50 nugget in the 250th bottle.

Waste of money I got a bag last year for Christmas and I believe the total gold weight was .037 grams.
Yes I said.037 grams.

Only time I ever got a bag of "pay dirt" was when I was 12, got it at the museum in Weaverville with a steel pan and a little booklet on how to pan.

Not sure if it counts but I have bought bags of sand from home depot when I built my drywasher a couple winters back. There wasn't any dry dirt around to run through it and I didn't want to wait.

why not just my a gram of gold and mix it with your own dirt.then you can pan it.about 40.00 dollars
good luck brad
