First sale Saturday I picked up some tiny turtle sterling ear studs still on the card for a quarter. Maybe 1 gram weight. Very small. Anyway, a few sales down the road traded them for this Herman Miller chair. Just to see if I could. She was happy and so was I...

You got that HM chair for a pair of earrings??

Dang, you did well!!!!!!!

Very Clever!

I once bought an old computer for recycling and the owner said I have to take the flat screen monitor also. I did thinking i would just toss it later. Well it stayed in my car a few weeks. I was at another sale and there was this old phone, simular to the one below but everything was brass.

The guy wanted too much so I noticed he also had computer stuff for sale too and offered $30 and the monitor I had in my car. I later sold the phone for around $125 (if i remember correctly)

Nice way to barter, awesome chair !

Keep @ it and HH !!

haven't done it yet.. but I really like the idea of it!!! gonna keep some some good stuff in my car this weekend and see what happens. maybe a few silver dimes or quarters, who knows. HH!

We bought a sterling silver fruit knife at a yard sale for $10. They were selling online for around $20. Took it to the flea market and traded it with a vendor for a 14k gold charm. Sold the charm online for $125.

Because of this thread I took a bottle of Glennfiddich 18 year old scotch that I purchased at an estate sale with me today with the intentions of trading it to someone for something. I know it is a $100 bottle of scotch but I don't drink and I paid pennies on the dollar for it ($5).

So I ended up trading this-

I'm sure I could have got more for the liquor to the right person but I figured what the heck, I got an ounce of silver for $5, you may as well say.

Yup, because of this thread. The guy I sold it to is a dealer that I ran into at a sale, so he plans on trying to double his money on it. Shouldn't be a problem for him I wouldn't think.

I don't think I've ever bartered at a sale. If I want something, I generally have enough cash on me to buy it. You've given me a great idea, though. Going to a huge outdoor regional sale next week and I'm going to take a bunch of silver dollars that I've got laying around (not the CCs mind you). This makes sense, because if I just go to my local dealer, he's only going to give me scrap for them, but out in the country, I can probably realize more value in trade.
