Anyone else get Ikes?

I was at my bank this week and asked if they had any halves. They said, "yeah, we have $160 in halves and $135 in Eisenhower dollars." I, of course, said "I will take them all." I figured it would either be great or nothing, and they were all skunks. I did find all 4 varieties of bicentennial Ikes, big and small letters from the p and d mints.

Anyone else notice the banks seem to have a lot more Ikes than they used to? Now I have picked up about $300 in Ikes this year, still haven't found any silver. It was fun opening those big rolls and hoping for a peace dollar or a Morgan. The halves came in $20 rolls which I have not seen before. All the wrappers looked pretty old. Must be another CRH guy dumping in my area, but the Ikes were dumped by the same guy as the halves according to the teller. Maybe with the silver craze people who did hoard Ikes are deciding to cash them in and get halves. What's the consensus on picking up Ikes?

0 for 19 in my short career of CRH.

They are rare to see so even the clad ones might be taken home by a teller, let alone the silver ones, just because they are "cool" looking.

I'd be the type to buy them all if I worked at a bank just because I had never seen them before.

My dump bank has over $500 sitting in their vault they keep trying to sell me every time I go to them. I do not buy them because I know all (or most) tellers are picking out silver, they admitted it to me, and even share their finds with me. (they do supply me with boxes of pennies nickels dimes and quarters, all sealed and unsearched though.

Hey BB, I just had a semi thought of brilliance. Next time they try to sell you the $500 or so, say yes, I'll buy them all if you let me bring back the ones I dont like tomorrow.

Talk about calling the bluff. You may find somthing??

Buffalo Boy if i were you i would buy them all and sell them to pawn shops they offer a bit more than a dollar a piece for them.

I actually just started today bringing an Ike with me into the banks and asking the tellers if they have any "large dollar coins". After that I flash the backside of the Ike with the eagle to them. My hope is that they might have some peace dollars sitting around. With all the focus on silver halves I don't think a lot of people realize there are silver dollars still out there.

Anyways today I got 3 Ikes, and they all just happened to be proofs :headbang:

I like Ikes because one of the tellers at my dump bank enjoys getting Ikes so anytime I go there and I've got some Ikes she's happier to see me, even with my large bag of dumps.
