The 127 Longest yard sale is coming up Aug 3- 6 and I wanted to share my experience in case anyone was going, they could look for this. My sister-in-law and I went a few years ago. We started in Fayette, Ohio, just south of Michigan. We headed north into Michigan and only stopped on the east side of the street, until we reached the beginning in Addison, then we headed south, stopping on the west side. Anyways, somewhere in Michigan, it may even have been just prior to reaching Addison, we stopped at one of those places where a man had a town in his back yard. He let us walk through it. It was full of historical artifacts. Very cool indeed! You may want to check it out!

That would be cool to see!

I'll probably do a 100 mile or so stretch in Kentucky.

We did approximately 150. But, I'll be honest, we were so tired that the last 50 we mostly drove and only stopped if it looked really promising.

I have not but my buddy & his wife did one starting in Ohio and headed south about 5 years ago. And he said it was a waste of time he never found any thing worth buying. They never did it again so i never wasted my time going after that.

I'm going to be picky about where I stop. May be mostly hitting neighborhood sales off of 127. I don't want to waste my time looking through antique sellers that drive in from other areas and people that setup every single year.

I did it years ago from Gadsden Al. to Frankfurt Ky.. It lasted an entire 9 days back then I believe and it stopped in Cincinnati when I went. I found my best picks from the locals who lived on or near the route back then. The larger areas were usually full of run of the mill (overpriced) dealers and food vendors.

The little towns and intersections out in the middle of nowhere were the best for us.

My parents live in Tn. I plan to take a trip to see them and spend about two days hitting the sales going down. Hopefully it will pay for my trip! Last year I drove about 40 miles of it... Didnt find anything and was pretty disappointed.
