was wondering even if you don't go in the water and stay on the dry sand is there a chance of the detector becoming damaged internally over time? I was thinking between the breeze and just being close to the water how everything seems to corrode over time i would think small electronics would be more at risk. has anyone experienced damage from this or opened up the machine and noticed any corrosion?

Water machines don't have this problem but land detectors can if the salt spray can reach them. Many of the cheaper detectors by the Chinese companies have corroded but again if you cover the thing with a baggie, it should be OK. Don't seal the baggie as humitity inside the bag can affect it's operation just like moisture inside the box.

go at it and enjoy. If it falls apart, you'll have already found enough to pay for a good one next time.

And....if you are using a tesoro, Life time warranty.
