Anyone been badly shorted by a TD Penny Arcade Recently?

Just recently opened an account at TD to have another place to dump. The first time I used a penny arcade to dump halves I filled the bag up (it was set at $100), but after the bag was changed and I added another $50 or so and the total count seemed accurate. The guy who switched the bag even showed me a placed inside the machine where the running count was maintained. Today at a different TD branch I went to dump (mostly halves) into a machine I had used just once before. After dumping a bunch of loose coins, the machine stopped and told me to ask for assitance. I could have sworn the message about a filled bag came up, but then there was a message was about "Penny" being "sick" (TD has since told me that the new machines won't say the bag is full, it will just say Penny is sick or unwell). This particular machine has its bags changed from a closed room behind the machine rather than in front of it. Once the bag was changed out the series of messages to restart the machine were not "continue" messages but the messages you see when you first start a count on a TD machine. Anyway, after shovelling in some more loose coins I had a bad feeling and decided not to unroll the halves that I re-rolled. I went across the street and dumped the rolled halves at another dump bank I used.

It's probably my fault for not knowing exactly how much I was dumping and I will always be careful about that going forward, but if I learned a lesson it may have been an expensive one. I checked bank records, etc. to compare the total boxes and MWRs I recently bought to the total of recent deposits at my dump banks. Right now it looks like I could be out something in the neigborhood of $80. The assistant manager told me she is certain that the count does not zero out when the bank is changed.

Has anyone had any bad experiences recently with dumping halves at TD?

I'm breathing easier - mostly a false alarm. I forgot about a Monday morning dump I did following a weekend search of some MWRs. Still, the assistant manager at TD called me to say that they found $3.50 in the reject tube that hadn't made it down to the reject bin. They will credit my account for that amount.

Regardless of the false alarm, I will better organize my dump coins in the future to know exactly how much I'm dumping. Better yet, I should try to switch to bags.

ALWAYS know how much you are dumping penny has miscounted me by a decent amount multiple times..

I only use Penny to handle my cents. I don't care if it is miscounted as it won't amount to much. I tried halves once, but it was a PIA with the bag changes. I ended up selling my dumps to a customer waiting in line behind as he was very interested in my half dollars.

I have a TD Bank in my area I stopped using because I was shorted about $30 in dimes. Like you I didn't write down my records, which I do now, and had to figure out the math from memory. The thing was while I was waiting in line after my dump the manager came over and ran the rolls of cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters through Penny and that count was off too. I asked the manager about that and she lied to my face and said it was accurate. That branch was a little out of the way and I was trying to "spread the wealth around" but I'll never visit that branch again.

Since every TD I've been to so far sets the bag limit for halves at $100, I'm not likely to use them much for a dump bank, unless I have some small amounts to dump here and there.

If there was coin in the reject tray at a Penny Arcade, tell them you want the coins that was in the reject tray and not credit it to your account. As it was explained to me, Penny will reject silver.

Thanks, but too late for me to claim the rejects. If they were from my dump they weren't silver. If they weren't from my dump, at least I got 3.50.

I use TD Bank to dump my halves. I do halves only. There are a bunch of them around here & I only use the ones where they change the bags in front of you, not behind the counter. I would recommend to you that you only go to branches that will change the bag in front of you, not behind the counter. They may have to change the bag at $100, but it helps you when there is a problem with the count because it is only a $100 bag compared to either a $500 or $1000 bin to argue about. I wouldn't do dimes at TD if I was searching them because I have seen too many people here on Tnet have problems with the machine counting dimes. My friend, Treeslayer, had a machine miscount his dimes by $275 one time. He never got it back. Again my advice to you is that you can use TD Bank for dumping but only go to the branches that change the machine bags in front of you, not in a back room behind the counter where you can't see what is going on.
