Bought that scoop two weeks ago at Detector Electronics (www.metaldetector.com) and have used it several times. Built like a Sherman Tank and weighs a ton..Tough to use in rocky areas because of the straight handle, at least it is for me. Weight 205 and had a hell of a time pushing through the compacted sand and rocks. In the water up to my chest, the scoop digs like a backhoe in wet sand but also, you bring up a heavy load. Just have to get the feel of it in the water i guess. Anyway, am going to take it to a muffler shop and have them put a bend in the handle, because the handle is a straight shot, the dig bucket forces the handle way out in front of you throwing everything off balance.
This is one tough scoop and will probably outlast me (65). Also brand new to the MD world, about a couple of months but, I know a well made piece of eguiptment when i see it. Ran into another becah hunter and he a was using an aluminum scoop that was just about ready to hit the scrap yard. Point was gone and the rocks were eating into the basket. He said it was about a year old ?
Between the Tesoro Tiger Shark, scoop, wetsuit and "Camel" hydro pack, and lets not forget all the "junk" i am finding (no rings, just tabs, new coins and random iron stuff) should be in good shape in a few months.
