Looks to me to be the 1900 "a".....

Very nice find whichever it is.....

God bless

Nice find the "a" looks to be a 2000 symbol to me.

It does to me, also. The periphery of the mark is consistent with the 2000 mark on the reference page - it appears to me that when the letters are recycled, not only does the style (font if you will) change, but the outline of the stamp also changes. I may be totally wrong, just my observation.

When I look at the link provided, I interpret it to match the 1900 "a". However, I saw your post in another thread and the gem and setting looks much newer to me. Just by looking at the basic style of the ring, I would guess 2000.

I just found that Ring, and would like to know about it. As far as I can see it's 18K from the Birmingham area,.... anyone knows aleman

I don't know how sticky they were about the font for the date letter, but that letter "a" looks wrong for the year 2000. And judging by the angle of the picture, it is difficult to be conclusive about the shape of the "square" surrounding it and whether or not all four corners are "clipped", or if only the bottom two corners seen in the picture are angled in?

Also, due again to the angle of the picture, it is impossible to see what the hallmark before the number "18" is?

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

Nice find. It’s very clearly a serifed ‘a’ in a square cartouche… so definitely 1900 for Birmingham. The 'a' mark for 2000 was unserifed.
