The hook looking item on the lower left appears to be an end of a bed rail that hooks into either a headboard or footboard.

The twin socket thingy might be a flag holder. Other items in the main pic include a winch of some sort and the bottom right object appears to be part of the 'bit' from a horse bridle.

Interesting bunch of finds.

The flat hook IMO is an old chain hook... heavy duty undustrial stuff.

The other shown here is a hanging hook, like Big Cy says below...

And I agree with the horse bit...

The handled item going through the round thing reminds me of a meat grinder.

Some of the objects remind me of old fence building tools? Monty

the ball socket mounted on a loading dock (ball side up) a jib or boom with ball on the bottom was inserted into the sockets so they could pivot or boom up/down and heavy enough to be held in place by gravity. the winch to raise/lower the jib. the hooks, for picking up loads. is what I'm thinking

The socketed thing doesn't seem to be designed to hold alot of weight, the fasteners seem a bit small for that. It was found in the middle of an old field in an area loaded with old iron about 50 yards square 300 yards from the homestead. My grandmother (92) doesn't remember any buildings there and it's been farmed since she lived there (1930's). I only dug a few of the targets. The thing that has been described as a meat grinder was found in the woods some distance away. A rod about 3 feet long was found with it. Every thing else came from the small 50 x 50 yard area. The rest of the field (about 80 acres) has very few iron targets. Trying to figure out what the socketed thing is is driving me nuts! I may have to go back and dig the old junk to get more clues.
