Anybody Know Anything About This Pewter Button?

Found this in June 2014 and never cleaned it due to fear of it crumbling. I looked at it today and saw what looks like some design on the front, I asked on the "General Discussion" forum on how to clean it and someone said to soak it in olive oil so that is what I did for a while, then I took it out to see if there more details now and will put it back in. Could it be a Continental Army Button?
