Found my 5th trade point today. I’m pretty excited, got me thinking I’ve seen all kinds of show your ___ points threads but I haven’t seen a trade point thread so let’s see em if you got em... funny thing is all 5 I’ve found are different.

This is not a riddle, its more of an “inside” bad joke.

Is “tinkle” the singular of “tinker”?
“1 tinkler”

Good show, Fat, you have a very diverse collection, that’s great...do you treat them, to stop deterioration,?

I gingerly pickup and than treat them to, at least my lifetime, housing in glass fronted frame.
We have white sugar sand like you do at florida beaches.
Out on the plains, the top several inches can be “bone dry”, blowy dusty clouds. If you dig in a little deeper, it gets damp.
Metals can be in any condition from rusty dust to dusty tin.

I found this one when I was younger at a family reunion. I hiked up this little hill. I thought it was a
spoon handle and threw it back down. A year later I picked it up again and recognized it as a trade point!!!!Screenshot_20201102-031319.png

I’ve got a question, 4 of mine are cut or stamped from a sheet but one has a thickness similar to a real knife or a thin arrowhead. Anybody else notice this? Is it possibly a hand forged vs cut from a sheet?

Here is one that I found quite a few years ago. I found it about hundred yards from a weathered buffalo skull, but not likely any correlation to each other.

Nice I’ve found one heavily damaged skull. One of my favorite finds. Trade points are right up there with it.

The NA’s made many of these points by recycling any metal item they could acquire (generally iron or brass) with an appropriate thickness. Of course the iron points were much more durable than the recycled trade brass.

My top one i believe is brass it came from a little way away from the others I’m thinking that one could be recycled from a kettle or something seems to be a bit irregular to be a mass produced trade good.
