You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: Wyoming for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

Hi Mike... I just got back from a Wyoming trip. I was prospecting for diamonds....without success...LOL I was down by Flaming Gorge. I haven't metal-detected in WY., but have found a few blackpowder rifle cases while wandering around. The trouble with detecting in states like yours and mine is that they haven't been civilized long enough to have much treasure laying around. Especially out in the boondocks. It takes a lot of research to figure out where to hunt. You need to find old camps of one sort or another. Things like sawmills, or places they stockpiled buffalo hides before shipping them out. Any place that cause people to gather and spend some time.
