A buddy of mine collect axes made for the old professional loggers. He tells me a lot of the way they are made and all can give a clue to when the head was made. Often the head will have a maker on them and that can give a time of when a maker started and when he went out of the ax making business if that was the case. Dang thing about axes is the style of them has just about never changed. About all I can say is, it does look old. In looking I find this is not the first old ax head someone has requested info here on TN.
