I live in Southern Ontario, quite near where Heinz makes ketchup!
As for buried cache's here, I am sure there are some, although I have not found any.
This area dates back to monks who lived on Lake Erie's edge (very hard to find information regarding the monks)
The battle of 1812 took place in my home town of Amherstburg and there is a fort there that depicts how it was back in those days. http://www.warof1812.ca/fortambg.htm From Windsor/Sandwich to Harrow/Colchester there was the "Underground Railroad" that helped many slaves and helped them become free citizens. http://www.blackhistoricalmuseum.com/museum.htm
There is a lot of information about Ontario, you just have to look for it!
Old maps and talking to old farmers sitting in the coffee shop are great ways of getting information of old houses, farms, buildings! Besides they love to chat about the old days (most of them do)
