The item on the left (first picture) I found at an old home site (second picture). It looks to be a brush of some sort but the teeth on it were like iron. I may be overlooking something simple of what it was but for the life of me I just can't think of it.

Any idea?

It is a hot comb ..(aka: pressing comb) Blacks used them to straighten their hair.
Do a Google image search for "antique hot comb" .. you will see them there.

Yeah I need to get myself back out there, I only spent about an hour there and found those items. By the time I got out there it was getting dark.

Thanks for the tips, I've pretty new to actually using a metal detector, typically before I would just find sites like these and dig in the trash piles found but now I'm getting into using a metal detector as well.
