I found this where a lot of old coins have come from. Late1700's early 1800's.
It's just under 1" in diameter. Looks like old copper but rang up like a button. It's real thin. Sort of like a thin piece of tin. It looks like it could have a design on it or it might just be corrosion. I don't know if it's junk or might be something. Any thoughts welcome. Thanks!

Well since no one is stepping forward on this one I will give my two cents on it.
I think it is an old round piece of tin... but I do see some markings on it... First determine what material it is... Then you can think about cleaning it up a bit for determination!

Can't sleep huh woody?

Where did you find this? How thick is it? It could be silver covered in horn crust if it has been in the ground long enough.

Hi

I have modified the picture to see if i can make ai=out any design but dosent appear to have anything that i can see. Could be a dog disc or something to that nature. looks like copper on the rim tho.

Hust my 2 cents.

It seems pretty old. It's from an area that has mostly 100 to 200 year old items. The thing that has me puzzled is why would they stamp out a little round disk like this and what would it have been used for. I'm wondering if it could have been a label for a box or something like that.

That's COPROLITE, a fossilized dinosaur dropping, though I am not
that sure about the dinosaur part, or the fossilized part either!

Maybe it rang like a button because it IS a button. What's the other side look like?
