Re: Any thoughts on this pin?

For some reason it reminds me of the South Seas Islands. Don't know why, just does, so? Monty

Taxco, Mexico silver pin perhaps? It seems to have writing on the reverse, what does it say?

There are a lot of scratches on the back, but no writing that I can see using 5x loupe.

Is the section marked in red just random scratches and not writing?

Yup .. Just scratches .. I just used my 10x loupe to examine it carefully, and it is just scratches. .. no writing on it at all.
Here is a close-up of the area.

Broken Knee

Hmm.. good question .. After looking at it pretty closely again, I think it is silver with a gold wash, and the pin is copper.

Probably the wings. That was my first thought too. Does look handmade and southwestern (possibly Native American) or Mexican in design. JMHO

Nice find.

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

This one said to be from Nepal/Tibet and from the 1930s:

Items of similar construction/design on fleabay also usually have the same claimed origin.
