Any tests on the Prizm 6T

I have only used the 6T for about a half hour. when it warms up a little, i will try and do a test with the 6T, F75 and an XLT
so far the 6T looks like a sleeper to me, as referred to in the world of muscle cars. It will hit a quarter at six inches hard in every direction with sensitivity set as low as it will go, raise the coil four inches off the ground and it still hits the quarter. Quarter has been buried for three years.

I had a chance to use a 6T last weekend and thank God it wasn't mine. I'd hate to think I spent my money on that thing. It was going off on everything in the ground even with everything below coins notched out. My Vaquero and cz5 went behind it pulling out all the coins it missed. It reminded me of an over priced coinmaster pro.

The main problem with many of these seems to be inconsistent coils. The 1st coil I had in an air test it would only ID a quarter to 5" or so accurately & the quarter didn't beep beyond 8". In the ground, I had a dime buried 5 " deep & flat. The ID bounced through several categories, but mostly above pulltab. Then the coin got just a bit tilted, I think, & now it really has no idea what it is. Most of my other detectors still ID it pretty good.

White's sent me another 9" coil for the Prizm 6T. Now it IDed the quarter perfectly to 11" in air test, but couldn't give a meaningful ID on a coin in the ground beyond 2". So I got a Prizm 5G, their newest. The ground balance does not seem to be able to help a bad coil. At least it is still under warranty, so I won't have to lose a couple hundred like I might with the 6T.

As things seem to be now, I don't think I could recommend any White's below the M6 (in price). Perhaps I should qualify that by saying people are reporting no problems with the 4x6DD Prizm coils, just the 9". Best wishes, George (MN)
