Dug this AM. Rang up as brass. Mostly solid. Tip has no hole. Any ideas are greatly appreciated! IMG_0471.jpeg

Hi relic it does appear to be that grayish patina.
These are very common, and im glad, as 25hp motors on up to 60hp generally have no power trim unless custom ordered with motor. these struts are a lifesaver on the back, and keep some tension off of the saddle during transport in the raised position.

that being said, it could be off of anything that needs lift assistance, but the bottom is exactly how they look when they come off of an outboard.

Thanks relic and everyone that took time out to view this find! Great to have folks with knowledge of mechanics because I don’t. All I know about boat/car engines is how to put gas in them and start them. Thanks again!
