Any significance on this dandy button?

I dug it at a 1700s site and was wondering if it was just a design or any significance in the center. Not even sure which way is up Any help from the button guys or gals would be great. Thank you in advance.

Ok, I just wanted to eliminate countermarked coin, and I actually would have bet before seeing that pic it was probably a counterstamp. That's a very cool button but I can't offer any help and I'm not sure anyone else will be able to either. It's very different.

Sounds like he knows more than I do.

I just tweaked the colors and shading a bit, and rotated the pic to try and get some ideas.
I could definitely see the turtle, but with an octopus!


There is obvious encrustation, that if it can be removed (properly) would give us a clearer idea.
One thought is an exotic flower: another thought is, anchor and ropes

It could be from Hydra (anyone watch Marvel's agents of Shield?)
Its similarity to one that Don in SJ posted in the link below, middle of bottom row, is probably just coincidental, and doesn't help ID it anyway, but it was my best effort:
