I am heading over to Cambridge, Maryland in the beginning of October for a business trip. It is only 150 miles so I am driving which means... DFX is going with me! Does anyone know of any good places to hunt near there? I'm not really into the beach hunting, more Civil War and earlier sites. I have a bunch of sites in Northern Virginia and would be glad to offer up a hunt over here for a hunt over there..

I'm going to spend three days and nights trapped in a User Group conference for work... I NEED a place to hunt!!! ;-)

Thanks,

Any farm field next to a river or creek or on the bay will get you on top of some good sites. A bit too far west of where I generally hunt but there are colonial home sites all over that area. Some of the sites around there date back to the mid 17th century.

Hey I see you are located in an area loaded with farm fields so you need no explanation. I remeber 20 years ago when someone told me to hunt in farm fields - I thought they were crazy.

Gary,

Welll... they use to be!! Now, seem they grow more house then anything else here in Loudoun County.. we have lost a lot of great places to hunt do to "development"

I know what you mean about house growing...same here in Ocean City. The land is almost all gone. Thankfully the inland area of the shore remains mostly ag fields along the small rivers and creeks. Perfect for detecting! I just need to find the time. I didnt hunt much last season but I have to this season. Its good for the soul and plus I have serious cabin fever.

Havent hunted in Cambridge in some 15 years but its full of history just like everywhere near the Chesapeake. Just 15 minutes east of Cambridge in Vienna some really good sites produced a lot of Spanish silver. One spot was said to have produced over 50 pieces of Spanish silver and I have seen them found there but I have never gotten a single one.

But on the flip side I have one spot where I seem to find everything, in fact its nicknamed "Garyland".

Your either in the zone or you arent.
