any one having problems with ace 250?

Nope, try a reset, if I remember right hold down the power button till you hear two beeps (4-8 seconds) and it resets it to factory settings

only when my batteries go dead... Are you using rechargables? They may have went bad.

But it sounds like bad electronics, time to call garrett.

just installed new batteries, did the reset and it will come on and stay on as

long as i dont move it to much.

Mine has done this, but only when using it in the cold with no hot pacs, low batteries or both. A freshly recharged set or new brand name alkalines fixed the problem. I have in the past tried those real cheap AA's and had nothing but problems with those. I guess you get what you pay for, or at least that was my experience.

If i use cheap no brand AA's in my detectors they at times give my detector trouble........ So i only use top of the line brand names now.......

as long as i dont move it to much.

Sounds like a connection came loose.

Another thing, I don't know if all 250's are like this, but the first battery is a real PITA to get in with the double springs, I had to adjust mine so the battery would stay put.

I have had mine since 04 I believe, and have never had a problem with it at all..I use Duracells only...I also am not very nice to it..I leave it in a hot trunk sometimes, and I plow the ground with it.I am a coil dragger, also have move junk out of the way with it.Have had it in the woods, and dropped it a time or 2....For the price I have NEVER seen a better detector...I sure hope you get your problem fixed...I did invest in the little cover for it tho, and I believe it helps to keep it clean when out in dusty areas. Also have a coil guard......HH, Tom
