.. I think i might have come up with a neat idea.. if they already have not done it yet...

use solar power to run a high banker or small dredge ...

with the new deep cycle batteries and high flow low electric usage pumps out there i am sure one can be made and or already has been made.

not to mention it would be nearly silent in running .. no major pollution / contamination issues.

if anyone has seen or has an idea of how to make this work i would love to see it.

I'm sure one can be made, but the array may be daunting. We run a multiplicity of electrical items off two golf cart batteries connected to a solar panel array. It is not portable. If you were on a permenant camp, rotating batteries to the work site may provide a possibility. I do run a recirculating mini sluice off a deep cycle battery and it works well. I recharge the battery with a smaller solar panel when not in use. But this is not a constant run sluice so I can keep up with the power requirements. Technology keeps getting better so it shouldn't be long before those of us in high sun areas can completely detach from the noise machines!!

Thank you for the input... i have been putting together the pieces like a mad scientist.. and the most expensive part seems to be the pump ... large enough to dredge with but low power usage to keep the array and batteries to a minimum of hassle.

It looks like i am going to be startinga new job in March or so and that will affoard me some extra tinkering moneys ...

well keep up the good work and may you find the nugget of your dreams.
